Welcome to the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) TTAC's download center for the Victim Impact: Listen and Learn curriculum. Victim Impact is geared toward helping offenders to become more aware of the impact that crime has on victims and to take responsibility for their actions and begin to make amends. The curriculum makes victims and their rights a central premise.
Use this download center to gather all the materials you'll need to conduct the training. We recommend that you create a folder for the Victim Impact Curriculum on your computer and download all the files you'll need into that folder rather than using the curriculum Web site during the training. You'll find tips on how to download files on all the unit pages.
Prepare for the training by reading About This Curriculum, where you'll learn more about how Victim Impact is organized and its basic precepts. You'll also learn about your target audience and what is required of facilitators. And you'll begin to navigate the download center and find tips for getting ready. This section is a must for first-time users of OVC TTAC's Victim Impact: Listen and Learn site.
Piracy isn't just limited to fake DVDs. Even though downloading tunes from the internet may be a great way to get your music, if you're getting music for free that you'd usually have to pay for, you're committing a crime.
You may come across pirate copies of DVDs or CDs in markets, car boot sales or online auction sites. These will be cheaper than those on sale in shops. Pirate copies are usually recorded on a camcorder in a cinema or downloaded illegally from the internet.
Downloading music directly to your computer or an MP3 player is now as popular as buying CDs in a shop. It's cheaper and you can choose to pay for each download or a standard fee every month for a certain number of tracks.
There are different sites that allow you to buy music online or get some legal downloads for free, but there are users of other sites that are breaking the law by using file-sharing networks to share copyright music.
File-sharing or peer to peer (P2P) networks can be used legally to share your photographs or music and video files that you made and own. But you shouldn't use file-sharing networks to download other artists' songs.
I think I do a good job with this website's screenplay downloads. Plus, I usually analyze them as well. If you have a script you want me to work on and get for you, just tell me in the comments and I'll find it, or do my best.
Uploading or downloading works protected by copyright without the authority of the copyright owner is an infringement of the copyright owner's exclusive rights of reproduction and/or distribution. Anyone found to have infringed a copyrighted work may be liable for statutory damages up to $30,000 for each work infringed and, if willful infringement is proven by the copyright owner, that amount may be increased up to $150,000 for each work infringed. In addition, an infringer of a work may also be liable for the attorney's fees incurred by the copyright owner to enforce his or her rights.
Since the files distributed over peer-to-peer networks are primarily copyrighted works, there is a risk of liability for downloading material from these networks. To avoid these risks, there are currently many "authorized" services on the Internet that allow consumers to purchase copyrighted works online, whether music, ebooks, or motion pictures. By purchasing works through authorized services, consumers can avoid the risks of infringement liability and can limit their exposure to other potential risks, e.g., viruses, unexpected material, or spyware.
